Many shelters are struggling to provide food and homes for the people living underneath their care due to COVID- 19. Our main goal was to provide the shelters with items that could greatly help them. We knew that we could make a difference in their lives by providing them with the basic essentials that they were deprived of. We wanted to make it easier for those in the shelters along with their family.

The necessities that were donated are -

Disinfectant Wipes

Disinfectant spray

Deodorant

Pads

Soap

Beans

Tomato Soup

Care Packages @ Texas Health Presbyterian Plano

Shraavya Pydisetti, Revant Kanakamedala, Sanjitha Sreemushta, Gautam Rao, Gayathri Vijayakumar, Parth Mahajan

Project Querencia is back at it again with another Care Package delivery! Recently we had the amazing opportunity of providing care packages for Texas Health Presbytarian Plano! We took on our biggest order yet, as we worked to provide 350 care packages for all of the healthcare workers fighting COVID - 19 on the frontlines. We had the pleasure of working with Mary Jo Dean (Director of Community Relations) to coordinate logistics and ensure this delivery would be a success!  350 care packages is no easy task, and the long hours put in by our Care package project team will  along with the many difficulties faced along our journey does not go unnoticed. The chaos and laborious hours was all worth it in the end when we got to see all of the doctors smiling faces and delighted reactions. This time our packages were more food oriented as we included snacks, such as Cheez-Its, NutriGrain bars, Granola bars, and chips as well as bottled water. Along with these snacks we included our signature Project Querencia artwork combined with thank you cards from young children!

We are so proud of the members who have worked to make this huge project happen and we can’t wait to continue expanding this project in the future!

Care Packages @ Baylor Medical Center Grapevine

Shraavya Pydisetti, Revant Kanakamedala, Sanjitha Sreemushta, Gayathri Vijayakumar, Parth Mahajan

We took on a huge project in order to provide Care Packages to the Baylor hospital in Grapevine. We had to create 250 care packages! It took multiple trips to get into the car and then from the car to the hospital. This was a long and hard process but it was very fulfilling at the end. We got to meet Ms. Rachel Nobles, who is the Community Outreach Manager at Baylor Scott & White Grapevine. Our packages this time were beautifully wrapped mugs filled with lotions, pens, gum, and granola bars. We also included some snacks, along with notebooks, handmade artwork, and children’s thank-you cards.

Care Packages @ Baylor Medical Center Irving

Shraavya Pydisetti, Revant Kanakamedala, Sanjitha Sreemushta, Gayathri Vijayakumar, Parth Mahajan

We had the wonderful opportunity of proving care packages to another Baylor facility! We were in contact with the Experience Advisor & Volunteer Services Director, Ms. Stacy Albert. We planned to do about 50 care packages. This time they were in bags that were hand-decorated. They had mugs, lotions, gum, granola bars, pens, notebooks, artwork, snacks, and of course, thank-you cared that were handmade by children. This was another very impactful project and we were elated to receive pictures of medical professionals who had received our packages.

One of the most important things that we have to consider is that despite what we are doing, the pandemic is ever prevalent. We have to make sure we understand that we are at a hospital and that is a dangerous place for the virus. We hope everyone understands the threat that is imminent during this time. While doing a good deed, we do not want to be negatively affected. Safety first!

Coppell Police Department

Upcycle Project

Rushil Vankamamidi, Geeth Gunnampalli, Harshini Mandiram, Varshini Mandiram, Srishti Behra

We have recently led an Up-cycle project and provide refugees with restored materials in "like-new" conditions. We have held several workshops to restore used clothes, furniture, and stationary, so that they can be given away to shelters and facilities who assist and represent major causes. The workshops allowed for several of our own members and various volunteers to participate in an initiative that not only improved the wellbeing of homeless individuals, but also allowed for communities to come together and make a difference.
We have recently had the pleasure of donating several of our upcycled clothes to Dallas Life Homeless Shelter to benefit those who are in need during this time!

Care Packages @ Carrolton Regional Medical Center

Shraavya Pydisetti, Revant Kanakamedala, Sanjitha Sreemushta, Gayathri Vijayakumar, Parth Mahajan

Our very first project as Project Querencia was a success! We set out to create care packages for the health care workers fighting on the frontlines during this pandemic. These packages included notebooks, artwork by Shraavya Pydisetti, cards that were handmade by kids, masks, gloves, baked goods, lotions, gums, pens, and chocolate! When deciding what to include, we though long and hard about what medical professionals would want and how we could provide things that would make their lives easier. We also wanted to put a smile on their face! The cards made by children in our neighborhood was the highlight as they showed how much these doctors and nurses were appreciated by people of all ages. These healthcare workers are not only the heroes to us at Project Querencia, but to everyone around the world. These packages was just our way of showing that their hard work was valued. We hope to continue to show healthcare workers and other essential worker that they are admired and respected for all that they do.
